If LLM’s are, or will be, good enough to replace software engineers, then we can explore whether software as it stands today is no longer an economic moat, and from there we can assess which companies would be most affected by this change.
Here is a more clear example: Do you care if Microsoft is the creator of Microsoft Word? If there was a near identical clone that was more affordable and had features more useful to you, would you use it? What does this mean for Microsoft? What if an LLM of the future could make this a more viable solution?
For the record, as of now, I do not think LLM’s are anywhere close to being able to accomplish such a feat. But for the purposes of this blog, I want to look deeper into if these LLM’s or any AI does eventually does become thie powerful, then would it mean for companies today?
